MD Viewer extension privacy
Last updated: October 31, 2026.
The extension reads only Markdown files you open in your browser or choose in the viewer. It does not scan folders, read browsing history or collect analytics.
Local viewing
Reading, editing, Markdown export and PDF printing happen on your device. Drafts use extension session storage restricted to trusted extension contexts. They are cleared when the browser session ends, and closing a file-opened viewer tab removes its recovery draft. Export a copy to keep local edits permanently. Embedded HTML and remote document images are disabled. External links open only when you click them.
Optional account connection
Save lets you choose this device or your account. Device saving uses the browser file picker to select the original file for replacement or a new copy. The writable handle stays only in memory for later saves in that viewer. Changes made by another app require confirmation before replacement. Where native writing is unavailable, a new copy is downloaded. Local saving uploads nothing.
Connecting opens ozan.beer in a small popup in the same browser profile and uses your existing web session. After connecting, it minimizes and returns you to your document. The extension receives your account ID, display name and requested Markdown library data. It never receives your password, cookies or login tokens. Keep the connection window open, usually minimized, while using cloud features. Closing it disconnects the extension without signing you out of the website. Disconnect library removes the extension account selection without signing you out of the website.
Files are uploaded only when you explicitly choose the account destination in Save. Later Save actions update that same account document. Opening a file or connecting alone does not upload it. Account changes require reconnecting and cancel any pending save intent. Files are sent only to Ozan Beer through its existing application API.
Storage, sharing and deletion
Theme and selected account ID are stored locally. The extension does not sync these through your browser account. Server copies follow your Ozan Beer account storage policy. Delete a document in private history to remove the server copy. Creating a public share link requires confirmation and lets anyone with the link read the saved document. Deleting that document disables its share links.
Permissions
Local-file access lets the extension format opened .md files. Access to ozan.beer connects your private library. The extension has no cookie, password, broad browsing-history, arbitrary-script-injection or download-management permission.
See the Ozan Beer privacy policy for account data and contact information. The same extension-specific notice is included in the installation package.
